Dr. Brian Gilvary is Chief Financial Officer of BP and is responsible for the company’s finance areas (tax, treasury, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, audit and global business services), Information technology, Integrated Supply & Trading and the Shipping Maritime division.
Brian has spent his entire career with BP, joining in 1986 after obtaining a PhD in mathematics from the University of Manchester. He has broad experience across the group and has been at the centre of the group’s work on addressing cyber risk. He was a director of TNK-BP over two periods, from 2003 to 2005 and from 2010 until the sale of the business and BP’s acquisition of Rosneft equity in 2013. He served on the HM Treasury Financial Management Review Board from 2014 to 2017. He is a non-executive director and Audit Committee member of both Air Liquide SA and the Royal Navy. Brian also chairs the 100 Group of FTSE 100 Finance Directors.
Brian chairs the Crick’s Audit and Risk Committee.
