Patterning and homeostasis in developing epithelia

Research opportunity for a postdoctoral clinical fellow in Jean-Paul Vincent's lab.

Introduction

In my lab we study the regulation of Wnt signalling and its impact on development and homeostasis. As part of this work we identified a extracellular enzyme that inactivates Wnt and have begun a collaboration to test whether this enzyme, called Notum could be a valid drug target for Alzheimer's disease. We are also analysing the role that Notum has in liver regeneration and blood brain barrier maintenance.

Another clinically relevant project in my lab is to model a ribosomopathy in flies and mice. We have introduced a patient-derived mutation in these organisms and are hoping to identify pathways that might impact on the phenotype. A clinician with relevant experience/knowledge would be a welcome addition to my group, which has so far focused mostly on basic cell and developmental biology.
