Mycobacterium tuberculosis systems and chemical biology

Research opportunity for a postdoctoral clinical fellow in Luiz Pedro Carvalho's lab.

M. tuberculosis proteome and metabolism remain poorly understood, despite their fundamental importance.

Our lab investigates how Mycobacterium tuberculosis' unique metabolic network promotes survival and persistence in the human host, and how antibiotics impair M. tuberculosis metabolism. This knowledge is improving our understanding of some of the most central aspects of the disease and may also pave the way for novel therapies in the future. We would be particular interested in expanding our work to bacterial genomics and bioinformatics.
