Metabolic interactions between liver cancer and host physiology

Research opportunity for a postdoctoral clinical fellow in Dimitrios Anastasiou's lab.

Introduction

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is strongly linked to liver disease, the incidence of which has been increasing exponentially, so the need for novel HCC therapies is urgent.

Towards addressing this need, our lab aims to understand how HCC impacts host metabolism and, conversely, the consequences thereof on cancer progression using mouse models, in vivo magnetic resonance spectroscopy, metabolomics, physiology and biochemistry.

This area of research is ideally suited for a clinical fellow with interest in endocrinology, liver physiology, and/or liver cancer and keen to investigate the mechanisms underlying tumour-host interactions.
