Reports to: Head of Bioinformatics Core Facility

This is a full-time, permanent position on Crick Terms and Conditions of Employment.

OVERVIEW

The position of Bioinformatics Training Developer within the Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Core Facility will provide support to the bioinformatics training and development needs of research scientists primarily RNA-Seq, ATAC-Seq, ChiP-Seq and single-cell RNA-Seq. There are 2000 research scientists at the Francis Crick Institute. The role-holder will be located within the Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Core in order to keep abreast of developments in the Bioinformatics field and assess the needs of researchers in the Institute.

The role-holder will be responsible for organising and facilitating bioinformatics training courses. Typically, 1- and 2-day courses are available to Francis Institute scientists.  The role holder will develop courses on topics such as R, Statistics and genomic analysis, and the role-holder will be responsible for maintaining and developing these courses. Course feedback and close monitoring of the rapidly changing Bioinformatics field will also inform opportunities for new courses. A major responsibility of the successful applicant will be to recruit instructors and demonstrators within the Institute and direct them into delivering a successful training programme.

This position will be part of an already existing Core team of 15 providing bioinformatics expertise to the Crick scientists.
