The Chemical Biology team at the Crick works with research groups across the institute to develop chemical tools and methods to help them with their work.

The laboratory is set up for research in organic chemistry and our work involves organic synthesis (making organic compounds from scratch in the lab).

The successful student will get to observe various laboratory tasks. They will learn about the setting up of a reaction, how to monitor a reaction while it runs, before isolating and figuring out the structure and properties of the product produced.

The successful student would ideally be interested biology, and chemistry

It is expected that all students accepted for a placement at the Crick are punctualresponsibleshow a willingness to learnlisten to advice and act on feedback. For this placement in particular, the student should also:

  • Have a good attention to detail
  • Be proactive
  • Be inquisitive
  • Be well presented
