UKCMRI's Chief Executive and Director-designate, Paul Nurse, has been named the most influential person in British science by The Times' Eureka magazine.
The Eureka 100 celebrates the most important contemporary figures in British science including the cosmologist Stephen Hawking, the inventor of the internet Tim Berners-Lee, broadcaster David Attenborough and the biologist Richard Dawkins.
Paul Nurse who becomes President of the Royal Society in December won the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 2001 (with Leland Hartwell and Tim Hunt). He takes the helm at UKCMRI in January. The Eureka magazine says: "He deserves the accolade of being the most powerful figure in British science and - remarkably, given the intensity of the debate - was the unanimous choice of our judging panel."
The Eureka 100 list was compiled to mark the first anniversary of the Times' monthly science supplement.
