Title: Residents' views
Event: Development Control Forum
Venue: St Mary and St Pancras School, 81 Werrington Street, Somers Town
Time: 6.30pm on Wednesday, 10 February 2010

Senior members of the UKCMRI team will meet Camden residents to discuss plans for the new institute at a public meeting in February. The Development Control Forum is organised by the council as an opportunity for local people to give their views. Sir Paul Nurse, who is leading the science planning, the Medical Research Council's Sir Leszek Borysiewicz, and the UKCMRI interim chief executive John Cooper will be on hand to respond to residents.

Camden council planning officials will host the meeting. Joining Sir Leszek, Sir Paul and John Cooper will be several members of the UKCMRI team including leading scientists and architects HOK.

"We want to explain our plans to local people," said John Cooper. "and to hear residents' views so that UKCMRI can take its place within the local community. UKCMRI will bring tangible benefits to the area. Each of the partner organisations involved in UKCMRI: Cancer Research UK, the Medical Research Council, the Wellcome Trust and UCL (University College London) is committed to working for the public good. Equally we have a responsibility to make sure that our investment, which comes from charity donors and taxpayers, is spent wisely. We are looking forward to this further opportunity to meet people in Somers Town."
