Bea studied Medicinal Chemistry at Imperial College and completed her Masters Project in the Schumann Lab, where she established a bioorthogonal reporter system for glycosyltransferases in living cells using the “bump-and-hole” approach. Bea also completed a 12 month industrial placement in the DMPK department at AstraZeneca as part of her degree. She has now returned to the Crick as a joint PhD student in the Schumann and Malanchi Labs to unravel the role of glycosylation during the metastatic process of breast cancer by chemical biology.
