I am interested in the role of glia in motor neuron disease. Motor neuron disease is a devastating neurodegenerative disease in which motor neurons, the cells which control muscle function, are lost. I am primarily interested in astrocytes and microglia, which both contribute towards motor neuron death in the disease. I use induced pluripotent stem cell models (iPSCs) to make motor neurons and glia and study their molecular dysregulation and dysfunction in vitro. Before the Crick, I completed my PhD in the Greensmith lab at UCL.
