Damjan obtained a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Westminster. He has obtained Bachelor’s (2012) and Master’s (2014) degrees in Informatics and Computer Engineering from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Macedonia, and spent 14 months as a visiting research student at the University of Westminster. He also has nearly 3 years of experience in the software engineering industry. The focus of his doctorate was the use of cloud computing for virtual screening simulations, and software systems for storing and analysing molecular docking results. He has teaching experience and holds a PgCert in Higher Education. Damjan joined the Cancer Systems Biology Group in June 2018.
Damjan uses machine learning to identify genes, pathways, and biological processes important for the development of oesophageal adenocarcinoma. He is interested in stratifying patients based on different stages of cancer and pre-cancerous conditions.
