Dirk Benzinger is postdoctoral researcher in the Briscoe lab. He received his MSc in Molecular Biology from the University of Heidelberg (Germany) where he developed tools for the optogenetic control of protein transport. He then joined the lab of Mustafa Khammash at ETH Zurich (Switzerland) for his PhD research. There, he employed synthetic biology approaches to study dynamic aspects of signaling and transcription regulation. In the Briscoe lab, Dirk will follow his interest in cellular information processing by studying the dynamics of sonic-hedgehog-mediated signaling and gene expression regulation on the single-cell level.
