Enrica joined the Host-Pathogen Interactions Lab in October 2019. She completed her master's degree in Biotechnology for Health focusing on using CRISPR/Cas9 to study pathological KRAS mutations at the University of Messina (Italy). Enrica was trained for her PhD in Molecular Medicine between the University of Pisa and The Jackson Laboratories for genomic medicine, where she had the opportunity to dedicate her work to the generation of knockout, conditional knockout and point mutations in human induced pluripotent stems cells using CRISPR/Cas9 technology

Area of interest

Behind her interest in genome editing technologies, Enrica is currently investigating the role of peroxisomes in human macrophage during Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection.

Outside the lab

Enrica enjoys traveling, exploring new cultures by discovering their music, trying new foods and learning about their history and traditions.
