Flavia Leite

Flavia Leite earned her Bachelor Degree in Biology (Genetics) in 2003 at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil. She completed her Master (2006) and PhD (2010) degrees studying the role of MAPK and P13K signalling pathways in Poxvirus life-cycle in the group of Prof. Cláudio Bonjardim at UFMG. In 2011 she was awarded with the Lise Meitner Fellowship from FWF (Austrian Science Fund) to work as a postdoc with Dr. Tim Skern at Max F. Perutz Laboratories, Medical University of Vienna, where she studied the properties of the vaccinia virus' proteases. In 2014 she relocated to London for a second postdoc with Dr. Michael Way where she is using the vaccinia virus as a model system to study how RhoGTPases regulates the actin cortex.
