Jan Attig studied RNA biology with George Stöcklin, Witold Filipowicz and Jernej Ule. He received his PhD from Cambridge University in 2015. His current research is focusing on changes in a gene's expression brought about by retrotransposal repeats embedded within them. He aims to understand what distinguishes passive passenger elements and those that have a consequence on gene structure and expression levels.
