My research focuses on investigating how stresses have an effect in Motor Neuron Disease (MND) at a cellular level. To do this I use human-induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) and grow motor neurons generated from control patients and those suffering from a genetic form of MND. I investigate the cellular and molecular events of a neuronal stress response.
I compare control and MND hiPSC derived motor neurons to examine how differences may influence the motor neurons to become more vulnerable and eventually die.
