Jerome Nicod

Jerome Nicod

HEAD OF ADVANCED SEQUENCING STP

Jérôme joined the Crick in April 2018 as Head of the Advanced Sequencing Facility. After a degree in pharmacy at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) Jérôme completed his PhD at the University of Bern changing his focus to genetics.

He then moved to Oxford as a Swiss National Science Foundation and Marie Curie Research Fellow to work with Simon Fisher on the language-related gene FOXP2. Following this he began working with Jonathan Flint, leading a large-scale international project looking at the genetics of complex traits in the mouse, with a particular interest in behaviour.

It was during that time that he developed his interest for managing research projects with a broad remit, working with lots of different research groups and delivering a tangible legacy. This lead him to take a management role at the Oxford Genomics Centre where he learned his trade in one of the best genomics facility in the UK before his move to the Crick two years later.
