Dr Karolina Farrell is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Psychosis Collective (Neural Circuits and Immunity in Psychosis Lab). Her research currently focuses on using translational approaches to understand hallucination-like perception in mice and humans and the neural circuit mechanisms that underlie it. She earned her PhD in Neuroscience and Mental Health at University College London. Her background is in systems neuroscience with a focus on dopamine, navigation, and reinforcement learning, and she currently uses optical, electrophysiological, pharmacological, and computational methods to research the neural mechanisms of hallucinations. Her goal is to use experimental and computational systems neuroscience to develop a better understanding of the neural mechanisms that underlie psychiatric disorders and improve therapeutic interventions.
