Kenzo Ivanovitch

Visiting Scientist

Kenzo is a postdoctoral scientist in the Smith Lab. He obtained his PhD in Developmental Biology from University College London (UCL) in Steve Wilson’s group. During his PhD, Kenzo studied the formation of the eye primordia during zebrafish embryonic development. Kenzo became interested in heart development for his postdoctoral work at the Spanish National Cardiovascular Research Centre (Madrid) and then at the Francis Crick Institute. Using sophisticated microscopy techniques, Kenzo is currently addressing how embryonic cells develop into different cardiac lineages and form a heart during morphogenesis using the mouse as a model system. This research will have important implications for our understanding of congenital heart diseases.
