Kerstin Haase

Kerstin obtained her undergraduate degree in bioinformatics at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich (Germany), where she was first exposed to research developing a bioinformatics tool to predict protein domains from DNA sequences. During her PhD at the Technical University of Munich (Germany), she built on this experience to work on the prediction of virus epitopes. Kerstin joined Peter Van Loo’s group at the Crick in July 2015 to study the heterogeneity and evolution of tumours by applying computational biology approaches to whole genome sequencing data. Her current project is part of the Pan-cancer Analysis of Whole Genomes (PCAWG), an international collaboration to identify common patterns of mutations in cancer.
