Lucia Di Vagno

Senior Laboratory Research Scientist (SCIENCE)

Lucia completed her bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the University of Bari (Italy). She then joined the Centre for Amyloidosis and Acute Phase Proteins at the University College London where her work was focused on the examination of clinical proteomics data on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) patients’ samples.  She won an Erasmus+ Traineeship which allowed her to re-join the centre for Amyloidosis and Acute Phase Proteins where she used mass spectrometry to understand biological questions regarding amyloidosis. She obtained her Master’s degree in chemistry at the University of Pavia (Italy). In 2019 she joined LGC as Research Analyst in Organic Mass Spectrometry mainkly working on the development of a LC-MS/MS MRM method for the quantification of alpha synuclein, an important biomarker for Parkinson’s disease. In January 2022 she joined the Chemical Glycobiology Lab at the Francis Crick Institute as Senior Laboratory Research Scientist, where she aims to establish a comprehensive N-acetylgalactosaminyl Transferases (GalNAc-Ts) glycoproteomics platform to map glycosylation sites in living cells.
