Mariana Silva Dos Santos

Mariana completed her PhD on Pharmaceutical sciences at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil in 2014. She spent 18 months at the Centre of Metabolomics and Bioanalysis (CEMBIO), Spain, as part of her sandwich doctorate to investigate canine leishmaniasis through metabolomics.

In 2015, she joined the Metabolomics STP at the Francis Crick Institute where she works on the development and application of LC-MS methods for metabolomics and lipidomics research. Her postdoctoral project, in collaboration with the Mycobacterial Metabolism and Antibiotic Research Lab, aimed to unveil protein function in M. tuberculosis and to understand their role during infection. She is also involved in metabolomics/lipidomics studies of cancer, COVID-19, host-microbe interactions and elucidation of drug mechanism-of-action.
