Mariana Silva Dos Santos
PRINCIPAL LABORATORY RESEARCH SCIENTIST
- Email Address:
Mariana received her PhD in Pharmaceutical sciences from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil (2014). In 2011 she joined the Centre of Metabolomics and Bioanalysis (CEMBIO), Spain, as part of her sandwich doctorate to investigate early biomarkers for canine leishmaniasis through metabolomics. In 2015, she joined the Metabolomics Science Technology Platform at the Francis Crick Institute in London and is working on the development and application of LC-MS methods for metabolomics and lipidomics research. Her current postdoctoral project, in collaboration with the Mycobacterial Metabolism and Antibiotic Research Lab, aims to unveil protein function in M. tuberculosis and to understand their role during infection through a multi-disciplinary approach including metabolomics, cell-biology and enzymology. She is also involved in metabolomics/lipidomics studies of COVID-19, cancer, host-microbe interactions, drug mechanism-of-action elucidation and retina development.
