Affiliated Researcher

Michael-Bogdan Margineanu is a postdoctoral fellow in the Cancer Neuroscience Laboratory with a background in molecular neuroscience and biochemistry. His current research focuses on therapeutic targeting of small cell lung cancer using dietary and pharmacological approaches and on characterizing mechanisms of collaboration between neuroendocrine and non-neuroendocrine cells that promote tumor aggressiveness. His doctoral research in the group of Pierre Magistretti at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) contributed to establishing a role for lactate in synaptic plasticity in cortical neurons and as a potential antidepressant. Michael is from Romania, holds a Bachelor degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from Jacobs University Bremen and has taken part as a nominated young scientist in the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting dedicated to Medicine and Physiology in 2018.
