Michele completed his MSc in molecular biology at the University of Padua in December 2016, with a thesis on an extension of the miR&more bioinformatics method for microRNA and microRNA-offset RNA detection to predict pre-microRNAs. He had previously completed a BSc in molecular biology at the same university in September 2014. Michele joined the Cancer Systems Biology group as a CRUK King's Health Partners PhD student in September 2017.
During his PhD Michele is studying whether genetic aberrations in immune-related genes can cause an inheritable predisposition to the development of cancer. He is also analysing Imaging Mass Cytometry data of gut mucosa of colorectal cancer patients.
