Naomi Moris

GROUP LEADER

Naomi graduated from Imperial College London with a degree in Biological Sciences, and subsequently worked as a Staff Scientist at the LRI in Lincoln’s Inn Fields.

She went on to do a MRes and PhD at the University of Cambridge, studying the effect of transcriptional heterogeneity in single cells and epigenetic regulation during cell fate decisions of mouse embryonic stem cells.

In 2016 she became a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Genetics at the University of Cambridge, looking into the similarities between an in vitro model of mouse embryogenesis, the mouse gastruloid system, and the mouse embryo itself.

In 2017, she was awarded a prestigious Junior Research Fellowship from Newnham College in Cambridge, during which she developed an equivalent gastruloid system using human embryonic stem cells.

She will join the Francis Crick institute as a group leader in 2021, where her group will use human gastruloids to study the fundamental principles of embryonic cell fate coordination during development.
