Ravi Desai leads the Making Lab Science & Technology Platform. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Minnesota, and a PhD in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow.

He joined Andy Oates’ laboratory for his postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Cell Biology and Genetics as a Whitaker International Scholar, and continued in Andy’s lab as a postdoc at the National Institute for Medical Research (now part of the Francis Crick Institute), the London Research Institute (also now part of the Crick) and UCL (University College London).

He became the head of the Making Lab STP in 2017, and now leads a dynamic team harbouring engineering and biomedical science expertise.
