Richard Clayton

Richard investigates the function of stem and progenitor cells in the neuroendocrine system, and in the hypothalamus in particular, which is part of the brain that regulates the secretion of important hormones from the pituitary gland. The neuroendocrine system controls many important physiological processes including growth, stress, lactation, reproduction and metabolism.

Richard carried out his PhD as a scholar on the A*STAR Research Attachment Programme between Singapore and the University of Manchester, where he investigated the role of the nervous and neuroendocrine systems in regulating epithelial stem cells.
