Rupert Beale
Group Leader
- Email Address:
Rupert worked with Doug Fearon during his undergraduate medical degree and became fascinated by immunology. He undertook a PhD in the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology with the late Michael Neuberger as part of the Cambridge MB/PhD programme.
During his higher medical training as a clinical lecturer in nephrology, he returned to the LMB to work with Felix Randow, where he discovered a surprising direct interaction between influenza and the autophagy machinery.
He then set up his own laboratory in Cambridge with the support of a MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowship, before moving to the Crick as the first of a new set of clinical group leaders.
