Sam joined The Crick in September 2022 as a Joint Crick-King's PhD student in the McTernan and Muller labs. His PhD research focuses on synthesis of macrocycles for applications in the biosciences. 

Before joining The Crick, Sam received his undergraduate master’s degree in Chemistry from Durham University. For his final year project, he worked under the supervision of Dr Matthew Kitching, investigating supramolecular complexes containing molecules with nitrogen stereocentres.
