Postdoctoral Fellow

I was trained as a developmental biologist during my undergraduate studies at Heidelberg University, Germany. During my PhD, I investigated the consequences of mitochondrial stress signalling during development of the fruit fly larva and, as a consequence of this research, became very interested in metabolism and its implications in biology.

Following my PhD viva in October 2018, I joined the Gould lab as a postdoc to develop strategies to control cellular metabolism during fruit fly development. My longer-term research interests centre around questions concerning the differential modes of metabolic utilisation of nutrients within an organism and how these serve different purposes during development, adult life and disease.
