Susann Zilkenat

Susann Zilkenat studied Biology (B.Sc.) and Microbiology (M.Sc.) in Germany and Sweden at the Universities of Bremen, Umeå and Oldenburg. She completed her doctorate degree at the the University of Tübingen, Germany, in the lab of Prof. Samuel Wagner. In her thesis she clarified the architecture of bacterial type III secretion system export apparatus, using Salmonella Typhimurium as a model.
She joined The Crick in 2017 as a postdoctoral fellow in the molecular biology of metabolism lab of Prof. Markus Ralser, studying metabolic heterogeneity and in particular cooperation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae communities using fluorescent microscopy and microfluidic systems.
