Tapoka Mkandawire

I completed a BSc (Hons) in Molecular Biology with Industrial Experience at the University of Manchester and went on to complete an MPhil in Microbiology and a PhD in Parasitology at the University of Cambridge and the Wellcome Sanger Institute. My research examined the role of the host intestinal microbiota during nematode infection. In 2021, I joined the Cryptosporidiosis Laboratory at the Francis Crick Institute. I am developing methods aimed at improving the sequencing of the intestinal parasite Cryptosporidium in research, clinical, and environmental samples. Advancing our ability to detect and study Cryptosporidium in different environments and enabling Cryptosporidium researchers to ask questions that were previously unfeasible.
