The main focus of our lab is to look at pathogens such as Salmonella, enteropathogenic E. coli, Mycobacterium and others.
We investigate inflammasomes, which make up a signalling mechanism that senses infection or damage to host tissues. We address important questions related to inflammasomes: How do they help defend against bacterial pathogens? How do they cause damage when they become overactive? And how can we harness them to improve immunity to infection?
We collaborate widely within and outside Imperial and the Crick, for instance with chemical biologists and parasitologists to better understand mechanisms of innate immunity.
