Harnessing the immune system to treat disease

Caetano Reis e Sousa is using mice to look at how our immune system detects and responds to infection. This knowledge has the potential to deliver more effective treatments and vaccines for cancer and infectious diseases in the future.

Caetano Reis e Sousa's quote

Caetano Reis e Sousa

"I am still in awe at the marvel of how the mouse functions as an organism and integrates all of the diiferent aspects of its biology into a living creature and this is really a mirror of what we, ourselves really are and that's, I think, the greatest reward of working with a living creature."
