We work in close partnership with the clinical team at Mortimer Market Centre providing services for people living with blood borne virus infection. Our work includes offering the opportunity for clinic patients to participate in research, collaboration with the University College London Inclusion Health Team, quality improvement of clinical services, and a new programme of peer support.

We have established a translational research programme investigating hepatitis B in partnership with the Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) in the KwaZulu Natal province of South Africa, EVOLVE-HBV.

Our collaboration with the Uganda Virus Research Institute is investigating causes and outcomes of liver disease, including special focus on hepatitis virus infection. We have screened and assessed members of the MRC General Population Cohort for hepatitis B and liver fibrosis, and are working on molecular characterisation of samples.

With support from a Crick Partnership award, we have established an international and interdisciplinary network called HBV CARE. Our aim is to advance translational research and gather evidence to support improved clinical practice working with diverse stakeholders, including people with lived experience of hepatitis B.

We work as part of the NIHR Health Informatics Collaboration for Viral Hepatitis, collating routine clinical data from across the UK which are anonymised and used to address clinical research questions.

We have been awarded NIHR funding to undertake a clinical research programme offering screening and access to care for blood borne virus infection for the Mongolian population in London, this work will be starting in 2024/25.
