A HiSeq flowcell in the Crick's Advanced Sequencing facility.

Advanced Sequencing : Equipment

The facility is equipped with a broad range of Illumina sequencing platforms, which allows generation of high throughput of data generation and provides the necessary flexibility to accommodate sequencing needs of researchers at the Crick.

  • HiSeq4000 (2x)
  • HiSeq2500
  • NextSeq
  • MiSeq (2x)

We also own a Oxford Nanopore MinION for long-read sequencing and direct RNA sequencing, and have access to an IonTorrent PGM for targeted sequencing.

Single cell applications

We use the 10X Chromium platform for the isolation of single cells and their processing for sequencing.

We own a TTP Mosquito and have access to a Labcyte Echo ultrasonic liquid dispenser in the High Throughput Screening STP for miniaturisation. Isolation of single cells in 96- and 384-well plates can be provided by the Flow Cytometry STP via FACS or the CellenONE.

We aim to automate as many processes as possible for QC and library preparation. The use of robotics increases throughput and robustness of the data generated.  We work with the following equipment:

  • Bravo (Agilent)
  • Sciclone (Perkin Elmer)
  • Mosquito (TTP)
  • Biomek FX (Beckman Coulter)

The facility is equipped with the following instruments that are used for QC and library preparation:

  • Agilent 4200 Tapestation
  • Agilent 2100 Bioanalyser
  • Covaris LE220-plus
  • Eco qPCRmax
  • Promega GloMax-Multi Detection System

We also have access to the instruments from the Genomics/Equipment Park located next to our facility.
