We provide a central repository of cell lines and antibodies used at the Crick and a quality control screening service for Crick cell cultures.

We also undertake our own R&D to develop innovations and identify potential efficiency improvements. Cell lines are in vitro cultures of ‘immortal’ cells; these are normal cells that have mutated to proliferate permanently. They are an important biological model for many researchers at the Crick.

Our cell lines are frozen and stored in our special ultra-low temperature liquid nitrogen facility, known as the ‘cryostore’. We are the curators of the FreezerPro database at the Crick, a database that holds all the essential information for each cell line in the cell line repository.
