About Cut + Paste Nights

Join us for a free series of evening encounters to take a deep dive into some of the most captivating areas challenging what it means to being human in today’s world.

Each week we’ll be welcoming in special guests alongside our scientists from the Crick, to explore the topic of genome editing (the ability to change our DNA) from different and unique perspectives.

Enjoy a free alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage, explore the Cut+ Paste exhibition, and get crafty with our hands-on activity!

If you have any access requirements, you can get in touch with us via engage@crick.ac.uk

Opening perspectives

What makes us respond differently to the world around us? How do our values and experiences change how we feel about potentially life-changing technologies? Sociologists Monica Greco and Michael Guggenheim will help us explore these and other questions together.

Monica Greco is Professor of Sociology at Goldsmiths, University of London. She works at the intersection of the social science, history, and philosophy of medicine. She is interested in concepts of health, disease, and therapeutics across a range of practices and social settings, and on healthism as a cultural and social phenomenon.

Michael Guggenheim is a Reader in the Department of Sociology at Goldsmiths. He focuses on the relationship of lay people and experts, with numerous projects on health, disaster management and architecture. He has also worked widely in bringing such issues to the public with exhibitions.
