Competition and survey terms and conditions

Discovery Week 2020 includes two competitions - the Golden Letter competition and the Maker Challenge.

Creative Maker Challenge

  1. This competition is open to anyone living in the UK & Ireland. 
  2. The competition is not open to Crick staff in the communications or public engagement teams. All other Crick employees are eligible to enter.
  3. You can send in a photo of your creation for the following Discovery Week activities – Tasty Science, Tool Textures and Get Crafty.
  4. Entries are via Instagram – and must have the following hashtags shown - #discoveryweek and #everyonesascientist and tagged @thefranciscrickinstitute
  5. Please ask anyone in your household with an Instagram account to post for you if you do not have an account. If you do not have access to Instagram you can email your entry in by the deadline to engage@crick.ac.uk
  6. A panel of judges from the Crick will decide on the 5 entries that are deemed the most creative.
  7. Each prize winner will receive one Giant Microbe plush. This cannot be exchanged for cash or a different prize.
  8. The competition deadline is  midday Monday 1 June 2020. 
  9. Winners will be notified by a direct message on Instagram by Monday 8 June 2020, and will be asked for an email and postal address for correspondence purposes. 
  10. The Crick will not use the contact details for any other purposes other than notifying the winners and sending the prizes.
  11. The winning entries will be posted on the Crick’s Instagram and may also be featured in our newsletter. The copyright remains with the entrant.
  12. This competition is not endorsed by Instagram.
  13. The competition is run by the Francis Crick Institute, London NW1 1AT.

Golden Letter challenge

  1. This free prize draw is open to anyone living in the UK & Ireland. 
  2. The competition is not open to Crick staff in the communications or public engagement teams. All other Crick employees are eligible to enter.
  3. Only answers sent to us via the given link are valid. If you are under 13 years old please ask your adult to help you do this.
  4. Only answers that have the correct golden word will be put forward into the free prize draw.
  5. An appointed Crick staff member will then pick at random one correct email entry.
  6. The Crick will email the winner to let them know they have won the prize and will then email them the £50 Amazon voucher. The voucher will be sent via amazon online to the given email address. 
  7. The prize winner will receive an Amazon voucher to the value of £50. This cannot be exchanged for cash.
  8. The competition deadline is midday on 1st June 2020 and winners will be notified by 8 June 2020. 
  9. Once the winner has been notified we will not keep any email addresses gathered through this free prize draw.
  10. The free prize draw is run by the Francis Crick Institute, London NW1 1AT.

Feedback survey

  1. This free prize draw is open to anyone aged 16 years or over living in the UK & Ireland. (Excluding those working in the communications and engagement team at the Crick).
  2. In order to be entered into this free prize draw, entrants must have completed and submitted the Discovery Week 2020 evaluation survey.
  3. Three entries will then be picked at random, by an appointed member of Crick staff.
  4. The Crick will email the winners to let them know they have won the prize and will email them the £10 Amazon voucher. The voucher will be sent via amazon online to the given email address.
  5. Each prize winner will receive an e-Amazon voucher to the value of £10. This cannot be exchanged for cash.
  6. The competition deadline is midday on 8th June 2020 and winners will be notified by 15 June 2020.
  7. Once the winner has been notified we will not keep any email addresses gathered through this free prize draw.
  8. The free prize draw is run by the Francis Crick Institute, London NW1 1AT.
