Experiment alongside Ellie from our education team as she shows you how to make a chemical reaction and create an invisible fire extinguisher.

Become a scientist for a week this half term with the amazing online Discovery Week from the Crick.

All week you've been sending in questions for Crick scientist and virus researcher Steinar. And here are the answers!

From 25 - 30 May, we’re bringing you and your family new activities and events to keep you having fun every single day!

Tune in at 11am on our website every day and see what's new – but don’t worry if you miss it, everything apart from the quiz will be on the website for you to catch up with later.

Follow us on Instagram and sign up to our newsletter for the latest updates on Discovery Week.

Tune in every day for your chance to win a prize

And now for the good bit. Every day there will be one golden letter hidden in an activity. If you unscramble the letters and send in the word, you’ll be put into a free prize draw for a £50 Amazon voucher. Go the competition page to find out where the letters are and see how to enter!

This is the first time we've run an online Discovery Week and we’d love to know what you think.

What did you enjoy? How can we make it better? Completed surveys will be entered into a prize draw to win one of three £10 Amazon vouchers. Entrants must be over 16 years old. See the terms and conditions.

We’ll also be running a creative maker challenge. Send in pictures of your creations from the activities during the week and the five most creative entries will win a plush Giant Microbe each. Read our terms and conditions. To enter, just post your photo on Instagram (if you're under 13 years old, ask your adult to post it on your behalf) and use the hashtag #discoveryweek and tag @thefranciscrickinstitute.
