Medicine at the Crick

Interactions between gut microbiota and host: nature vs nurture

Key Speakers

Altered consortia of intestinal microbes in human disease.
Control of macrophage antimicrobial activity by genetic and environmental factors.

This Medicine at the Crick event will be led by Professor Brigitta Stockinger (The Francis Crick Institute) and the keynote lectures will be given by Professor Andrew Macpherson (University Hospital of Bern) and Professor Dr Holm Uhlig (University of Oxford).

Dysregulation of the host-microbiome crosstalk underlies many inflammatory disorders of the gut. It is clear that genetic as well as environmental factors have crucial roles in this dialogue. This meeting will bring together experts who will highlight the contributions of genes (nature) vs environment (nurture) on gut homeostasis in health and disease.
