Meet a Scientist: National Poetry Day Special

It’s National Poetry Day on Thursday 4 October, and we’re teaming up with Poet in the City to run a special Meet a Scientist event. Drop in to our gallery to chat with Crick researchers and experience poetry busking.

Two of our scientists will be popping into the Manby Gallery to bring Crick science to life and to answer any questions that you might have about life in the lab. Visitors to the gallery will be able to meet poet Helen Mort, who will be sharing snippets of live poetry inspired by the intricate biological patterns and transformations studied at the Crick.

Explore the poetry pods in the Deconstructing Patterns exhibition, and delve into the form, function and rhythm of the genome as you listen to A New Music, from poet Sarah Howe and sound artist Chu-Li Shewring.

Shifting Dimensions

This event is part of Shifting Dimensions, an exciting programme of live poetry performances and discussion inside four of Kings Cross’s most fascinating facilities, coordinated by Poet in the City

The finale event will be held from 19.30-20.30 at the Matter of Stuff exhibition space, and will include a poetry performance from Sarah Howe, whose work is featured in the Crick’s Deconstructing Patterns exhibition. Tickets are free but need to booked in advance via Eventbrite
