Solve the hidden messages

You're going to see how the body knows how to work, using a bit of machinery called the spliceosome. Gain points from decoding the hidden messages and see how good a spliceosome you are!

Intro

Can you read the messages below?

Find a hidden word in each line and put them together to build the message.

There's a hint underneath to show you how many letters should be in each word of the message. All the answers are available at the bottom of the page.

    The science

    • We are made of cells and they need instructions to work.
    • Instructions are genes, which are made of DNA. But the useful bits are hidden among gibberish.
    • Our cells have to find, cut and paste the right words within the instructions to build messages that make sense
    • This process is known as splicing and the spliceosome the bit of the cell that is responsible for this job.
